YMCA Digital Media Summer Program
Are you looking for something to do for 2 weeks over the summer? The youth digital media program is the perfect chance to do that! Take part in field trips to Stanley Park, Shannon Falls Provincial Park, while using digital media to make a positive impact in your community through story telling and social advocacy. The digital media program runs all through the summer for youth ages 12-18! Youth will have the opportunity to make movies, blogs, and news paper articles, high lighting the under discussed and importing topics related to young people in their community, while sharing their voice about what they feel is important and expressing their creativity, build relationships, mentor or receiving mentoring and have fun!
The program will be mainly project based, with active learning, group work, team building while developing positive relationships and leadership skills. Youth will identify community and social issues that they are passionate about and use digital media to story tell, promote and create an action plan to advocate for change in their community.
The program is two weeks long, and there are 5 sessions throughout the Summer from June 27th - September 2nd. If you are interested in registering, please contact Jethro Kambere at firstname.lastname@example.org or 778-986-6584. The Digital Media Summer Program is run in collaboration with the SFU Surrey - TD CEC and will be located at the City Centre Library (10350 University Drive) in room 402
